“And as Paul was to be led into the barracks, he said unto the chief captain, May I speak to you? Who said, can you speak Greek? Aren’t you that Egyptian, which before these days made an uproar, and led out into the wilderness four thousand men that were murderers? But Paul said, I am a man which am a Jew of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and I beseech you, allow me to speak to the people.”
Acts 21:37-39
Paul was being led inside a building and away from the crowd by the peace officers. He has been placed under arrest and put in chains. He was arrested for angering the masses of Jews who didn’t like it when they saw him in the temple of God. Paul had been accused of polluting the temple. All through the ministry of Paul, he faced barriers related to what people thought about him.
After his conversion he was still thought of as being the persecutor of God’s people, “Lord,” Ananias answered, “I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your Holy people in Jerusalem.” Acts 9:13
After Paul’s reputation started to become known as bringing many people to the way of Christ, he was accused of rejecting the Holy Scriptures. Christian minds were poisoned against him, “They have been informed that you teach all the Jews who live among the Gentiles to turn away from Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or live according to our customs.” Acts 21
Even the peace officers who arrested him thought he was a really bad character, and they asked him, “Aren’t you that Egyptian, which before these days made an uproar, and led out into the wilderness four thousand men that were murderers?“
The followers of Jesus Christ will be slandered for recognizing the human soul as being the temple of the Holy Spirit. “It opened its mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander His name and His dwelling place and those who live in heaven.” Revelation 13:6 The masses of people in the world today consider the human body to be the temple of the mark of the beast. It is given life by the thing that has power over physiology and can form thoughts, emotions, feelings, and behaviors. It claims the right to sit as governor in the human soul. They use lamb-like words of the unGodly humanism to make it sound like they belong in the seat of government within the human soul.
The people who live for the mark of the beast, clothed in humanism, dominate the churches to make sure the Gospel of Jesus Christ is thrown out and the mark of the beast is put in. Those are the “two horns like a lamb” spoken about here, “Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon.” Revelation 13:11 They do not tolerate anything else sitting in the temple of God except the thing that has power over physiology. Using lies, slanders, and smears is their attempt to pollute the Deity of the Holy Spirit, which they don’t recognize as a Deity, but just emotional feelings, the conscience, etc.
We are citizens of Heaven, washed by the blood of Jesus Christ, and we ask others to let us speak to the people about the testimony of Jesus Christ. As Paul said, “I am a man which am a Jew of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and I beseech you, allow me to speak to the people.” This present system which governs through the mark of the beast has no intention of letting the Gospel of Jesus to be made known. That’s because what comes out of a Christian’s mouth is very much different from the slander and lies said about Jesus Christ. Paul asked the peace officer, “May I speak to you?” and the peace officer heard the question in Greek, a sign of being cultured, refined, and educated. The peace officer was so surprised that he could only respond, “Can you speak Greek?”
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
