Acts 5:17-25
- Apostles jailed, freed by an Angel of the Lord, and continues to preach of Jesus Christ.
- Jewish leaders were informed that the Apostles were in the temple preaching.
Apostles jailed, freed by an Angel of the Lord, and continues to preach of Jesus Christ.
“Then the high priest rose up, and all those who were with him (which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with indignation…” Acts 5:17
The reason the Jewish rulers were filled with indignation is because the Apostles [namely Peter] were adding multitudes of people to the way of Jesus Christ, as described in the post on Acts 5:12-16. Today, if we Christians were adding multitudes of people to the way of Jesus Christ, we would quickly see how filled with indignation the atheistic culture would become. That’s because they demand that people live for the beast that gives them what to speak, do, think, and feel and the name of Jesus Christ is suppressed. The “sect of the Sadducees” include those who do not believe in the resurrection, the same as today’s culture does not believe in life beyond the grave nor in the judgment to come beyond the grave. They also oppose the born-again experience that resurrects a person from the death of unbelief to rise to live in the Spirit in the name of Jesus.
“…and laid their hands on the apostles and put them in the common prison.” Acts 5:18
The Jewish leaders had the Apostles put in jail, which included Peter and the other Apostles, as quoted, “But Peter and the other apostles answered and said…” Acts 5:29 The “other Apostles” could very well be all of the other eleven as the Jewish leaders were trying to put a stop to the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They arrested the Apostles because they were the ones causing multitudes to say “Yes” to living for God through faith in Jesus Christ instead of living for God through the laws of Judaism.
Even today, in the United States, Christianity is being put in jail, silenced, and with the effort to quietly put the Gospel extinction. The churches have abandoned the Gospel of Christ to align with community expectations. Government lawmakers no longer integrate the values of the Bible in laws, policies, and executive orders. The educational system does not allow the Bible to be taught in classrooms. And every sector of society does not welcome Christianity. Satan disguises himself as an angel of light as he roams the world looking for someone to devour. His followers disguise themselves as ministers of righteousness. The psychotic “lamb” is a literal killer and intends to bring in the extinction of Christianity, as described in Revelations 12.
We are living in the days where Christians are being jailed, murdered, and persecuted in many forms around the world. This is happening in China, Africa, Russia, North Korea, Iran, and many more. In fact, the majority of the nations of the United Nations are atheists who oppose the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. When the United Nations become the undisputed one world government, we who speak in the name of Jesus will be persecuted, jailed, and murdered. The global rulers govern by the beast that gives them what to speak, do, think, and feel, and they expect all the world to do the same, as a unified global culture. The beast they serve gives breath/life to the image of the beast to speak by speaking and living through people everywhere. The global culture is groomed to the mark, name, number of the beast by what they are given to say and do.
“For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.” 2 Corinthians 11:14-15
“But at night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out and said, “Go, stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this life.” Acts 5:19-20
We might ask, “When will we be free to stand in the temple to speak to the people about Jesus Christ?” All the world serves the beast that gives them what to speak, do, think, and feel and they boast, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” Revelations 13:4 They claim the temple of God, our body, as the territory of the beast that sets in the temple of God as if it is God. The beast does that by giving people what to speak, do, think, and feel and is the one “…who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” 2 Thessalonians 2:4 Click here for a post on that.
We must share our born-again experience when we can, which is the Gospel of Christ written on our heart. A day is coming, and now is upon us, when no one will be able to work to spread the testimony of Jesus throughout the community, as Jesus said, “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” John 9:4-5
There is a day is coming when the power center of the beast is plunged into darkness, which happens in the Fifth Plague of Revelations 16:10-11. During that time, the beast’s power over the temple of God, our body, will be broken. The faithful few witnesses of that time will be free to stand in the temple of God to proclaim the Gospel message to the whosoever. The Sixth Plague is the Battle of Armageddon of Revelations 16:12-16. Jesus returns during the Seventh Plague of Revelations 16:17-21 when the Seventh Trumpet sounds of Revelations 11:15-19. A lot happens between the time when the power center of the beast collapses [which is the power center of the global government and its global culture] and the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Even today, global warming is in the world and is the Fourth Plague of Revelations 16:8-9. Global warming is instrumental in bringing the blackout of the power center of the beast. The more powerful the United Nations become as the undisputed one world government, the hotter and more intense the effects of global warming becomes.
“And when they heard that, they entered the temple early in the morning and taught. But the high priest and those with him came and called the council together, with all the elders of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.” Acts 5:21
Peter and the other Apostles entered the temple, early in the morning, to teach about the resurrected Christ who forgives sin and gives eternal life. They did that after the angel said, “Go, stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this life.” That is the command given to every Believer, to stand in the temple, in the presence of the Holy Spirit, and teach the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. The prison doors that are opened, to enable us to do that, is the prison of sin that once held us captive. The door opens to the forgiveness of sin by belief in Jesus Christ, reconciliation with God, and living in the presence of the Holy Spirit. That is the Gospel written on our heart and the morning of our walk in the Spirit.
The high priest, and those with him, called a council together with all the elders and the Jewish people. They intended to have the Apostles brought to them. But little did they know that the Apostles had been freed by the angel of the Lord. Today, the global government intends to imprison Christianity and have us brought to them to warn us never to speak in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Little do they know that our Lord Jesus Christ has set us free from being in bondage to sin, and we will not deny God, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit.
Jewish leaders were informed that the Apostles were in the temple preaching.
“But when the officers came and did not find them in the prison, they returned and reported, saying, “Indeed we found the prison shut securely, and the guards standing outside before the doors; but when we opened them, we found no one inside!” Acts 5:22-23
Today, a prison is built to keep the followers of Jesus Christ from spreading His Gospel through the social network. The prison has two aspects: 1] The masses of people of the atheistic culture that opposes the Gospel of Christ and 2] The beast that has power over physiology to impose thoughts, feelings, words, and behaviors onto people. Today’s culture welcomes the beast that gives them what to speak and do. By what they say and do they shut-down the testimony of those speaking in the name of Jesus. With that, the beast drives thorns into our thoughts, drives a spear into our heart to fill our feelings with pain, heartache, humiliation, etc., and nails our hands and feet to prohibit our ability to mobilize with the testimony of Jesus.
As our Lord Jesus said, “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.” John 15:18-20
Today, it’s obvious that the prison is shut securely to prohibit the spread of Christianity. Even so, we are not imprisoned by the sin of unbelief in God, not imprisoned by denying Jesus as the Christ [our Lord and Savior], and not imprisoned by fighting against the presence of the Holy Spirit. We have been set free from sin and death within a culture, which is global, designed to act as a prison against everyone whose faith is not in the culture of the beast. The guards are all around us but our faith in Jesus Christ remains.
When the prison doors are opened, the global culture wants to see how we will respond after being imprisoned by them. Will we say “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” Revelations 13:4 Or will we say, “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame but wholly lean on Jesus’ name. On Christ, the solid rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand.” When the prison doors open, there is no person of unbelief found because Jesus has set us free, “You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness…Therefore if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.” Romans 6:18 and John 8:36
“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” 1 John 5:4-5
“Now when the high priest, the captain of the temple, and the chief priests heard these things, they wondered what the outcome would be. So one came and told them, saying, “Look, the men whom you put in prison are standing in the temple and teaching the people!” Acts 5:24-25
The Jewish leaders were contemplating what the outcome would be after the Apostles were not found in prison when the doors were opened. In today’s atheistic culture, the question is how Christians will respond after given a measure of worldly freedom. Let it be said of us [what was said of the Apostles], “Look, the people whom you put in prison are standing in the temple and teaching the people!” Let us always dedicate our body [the temple of God] as the temple of the Holy Spirit to lift up the name of Jesus. Let us not succumb to tactics designed to pressure us into making our body the temple of the beast that gives people what to speak, do, feel, and think. That beast is the one “…who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” 2 Thessalonians 2:4 The “he” in this verse is the “man of sin”. Click here for a post on the “man of sin”.
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
