Resurrected Body is not a Ghost.
Jesus Christ cannot be found with a Ghost-O-Meter, cannot be chased out with a Ghost-Buster, and cannot be summonsed through a seance. His resurrected body ascended up into the Paradise of God and He is no longer with us. The next time that He will be seen is when He returns. The nail prints in His hands and feet will be visible and so will the hole in His side from where He was pierced by a spear. Until His return, He has left us the Holy Spirit to teach us and to enlighten us through the scriptures of the Bible. The desire of believers is to abide in the Spirit of Christ and to be conformed to His image by the Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ made it clear that He was not a ghost, “Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.” The nail holes in His hands and feet were still there after His resurrection. When believers are resurrected, we will have a form just like Jesus, a redeemed body free of sin and which lives forever. To prove His point, Jesus showed the Eleven Apostles and the other two men His hands and feet. He even invited them to touch Him to see for themselves. Their joy and amazement, at seeing the resurrected Savior, didn’t allow the situation to sink in. It still wasn’t registering with them that they were looking at a man who was raised from the dead. Then, Jesus eats broiled fish in their presence.
“While they were still talking about this, Jesus Himself stood among them and said to them,
“Peace be with you.”
They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost.
He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds?
Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see;
a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”
When He had said this, He showed them His hands and feet.
And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, He asked them,
“Do you have anything here to eat?”
They gave Him a piece of broiled fish, and He took it and ate it in their presence.”
Luke 24:36-43
Resurrected Christ Opens Minds to Bible Passages.
It was only after His death and resurrection that the total fulfillment of the Bible could be understood. That is what His ministry on earth was all about, that is what His first coming was all about, to fulfill everything that is written in the Old Testament. Now, He is resurrected from the grave and everything has been fulfilled that has been written about Him in the Law, Prophets, and the book of Psalms. Yes, all 150 books of Psalms are all about Jesus Christ. Psalms 23 might be a comfort to us, but it is something that Jesus Christ lived. Are we really ready to be exposed to death for the testimony of Jesus Christ? Jesus Christ walked through that valley of death. When death did come, He bounced right back up by the resurrection power of God.
The Spirit of Jesus Christ mixes with Bible reading to bring enlightenment. Although Jesus Christ is not here with us, His Spirit is here through the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit opens the scriptures to those who read the Bible. Jesus says, “This is what is written.” Then explains the Gospel message, that He had to suffer, be raised from the dead, and in His name repentance for the forgiveness of sins is preached to the world. What is written in the Bible is for that sole purpose.
“He said to them,
“This is what I told you while I was still with you:
Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in
the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”
Then He opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.
He told them, “This is what is written:
The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day,
and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in His name to all nations,
beginning at Jerusalem.”
Luke 24:44-47
Firsthand Witnesses to Christ’s Death and Resurrection.
There are only a very, very few people that have witnessed the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It’s because of them that we have the New Testament, which is the Testimony of Jesus Christ. Jesus came to give Testimony of God and of His mission to the world. The Eleven Apostles and the two men were those witnesses who saw Jesus hanging from the Cross and saw His resurrected body. Those same witnesses would receive power from on high to be able to boost the Gospel of Christ from Jerusalem to the whole world. They patiently waited in the city until that day of empowerment came.
Today, none of us have seen Christ hanging on the Cross, nor have we seen Him in the form of His resurrected body. What we have seen is the work of the Holy Spirit, we are witnesses to the Spirit of Jesus Christ. Without the Holy Spirit, we are powerless and nothing more than all the others working to establish an earthly utopia. But through the Holy Spirit, in combination with the Gospel, we become empowered and enlightened. We see how the world has forsaken God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit to serve the mark of the beast. We have the Salvation message to bring, and though we walk through the valley of death, we will deliver the testimony of Jesus Christ.
“You are witnesses of these things.
I am going to send you what my Father has promised;
but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”
Luke 24:48-49
I might add, the book of Acts picks up from where these verses leave off. Luke wrote the book of Acts.
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
