I live in Pickaway County, and the above post is advertising a huge Labor Day celebration that has the largest fireworks display in the surrounding area. Larger than any of the 4th of July fireworks. Of course, it has all the usual feel-good music, food, bounce houses, etc. Of all things, a church is celebrating Labor Day. It’s just another secular, lively, and wealthy church that doesn’t have a minute of prayer nor a minute of reading from the Bible.
Work was anything but a feeling of being appreciated as a laborer in the workforce. It was outright torture and I turned cartwheels of joy the day that I retired at the age of 62. At my last job, I worked with twenty-one different laborers during five and half years, and they would say the same. I always wondered, “Who in the world is celebrating Labor Day?” I know it’s definitely not the laborers. Using a Godless church to celebrate Labor Day is just rubbing thorns into an open wound. The only ones that could possibly be celebrating labor are those who govern by the mark of the beast.
Today, on this Labor Day, I choose to work for Jesus Christ and not to lift a finger for the work being done through the mark of the beast. Working for a “global democracy” is not the good part, working for the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the Godly part.
“As Jesus and His disciples were on their way,
He came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to Him.
She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what He said.
But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made.
She came to Him and asked,
“Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things,
but few things are needed—or indeed only one.
Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:38-42
