One Precious Faith

2 Peter 1:1-2

You can tell I’m a 1959 Baby Boomer when I start mentioning the books that I’ve read from notable teachers who taught about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Names such as, Samuel Logan Brengle, the City of God by Saint Augustine, and Charles Wesley who wrote over 6500 hymns. I always wanted to be like the ones who were noted for their, “great faith.” The thing is, there is no great faith or small faith because there is only one faith, that is the faith we hold in Jesus Christ. Anyone who comes to God through the Savior Jesus Christ has a faith as precious as theirs. The Apostle Peter wants us to know that, and he is one of the reasons that all of the “great men of faith” have anything to talk about at all.

Peter came right out and calls himself an Apostle of Jesus Christ, and also a servant. Even in the Revelation he is mentioned as one of the Apostles on which the foundations of the New Jerusalem are built. “The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve Apostles of the Lamb.” Revelation 21:14 Peter makes it very clear that through the righteousness of God and Savior Jesus Christ we all share a faith as precious as theirs.

Peter is the one who denied Jesus Christ three times out of fear for his own safety. Christ appeared to Peter after His resurrection and asked him three times if he loved Him. All three times Peter responded that He knows that he loves Him. All three times Jesus told Peter to feed His sheep. Peter did just that, and later he was martyred for teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is that same Peter who says, “Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.”

These are the days when the Gospel of Jesus Christ is denied a place in society, the Holy Spirit is shunned, and God has been exchanged for a god. That god is the inner presence of the mark of the beast that sets itself up as God. In these very difficult times, when the Spirit of Jesus Christ is afflicted, we have to reaffirm three times over that we love Jesus Christ. To reaffirm once that we love God, to reaffirm again that we love the Savior Jesus Christ, and to reaffirm again that we love the presence of the Holy Spirit.

“Simon Peter, a servant and Apostle of Jesus Christ,
To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ
have received a faith as precious as ours:
Grace and peace be yours in abundance
through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.”
2 Peter 1:1-2

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25
, 3:11
