Romans 9:16-18

The more I depend on human desire, the more hardened I become to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In fact, the internal government of the mark of the beast thrives on the desires that people have. I am constantly shown how all of my heart’s desires can come true if only I live by the inner presence that forms emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. The presence of the mark of the beast hardens a person to the Spirit of Jesus Christ while fulfilling human desires.

A man in the apartment across from me went from being alone to having a girlfriend and active social activity in a matter of three weeks. Their human desires are being fulfilled. They are in their early twenties. I should be provoked with jealousy and desire; she is now living with him after a few weeks. The Gospel of Christ is as far from them as the moon is from the earth. Their heart is hardened to God although they are not smokers, drinkers, messy, etc. Cleanliness is not next to Godliness, it’s a form of Godliness without having the Salvation power. Sexual desires are met casually within the society of those who live by the mark of the beast.

If I choose my human desires over Jesus Christ, I become hardened, and my life is raised up in opposition to God. Becoming part of God’s family is not related to my human desires or efforts, it has to do with God’s mercy, and that mercy is found through Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit draws me to Christ not human desires. At the Cross, God has mercy on those He wants to have mercy and hardens those who He wants to harden. I choose the Spirit of Jesus Christ and God chooses mercy for me, but my neighbor chooses human desires and God chooses to harden him. That is God’s purpose in election. To elect Jesus is to receive mercy, to reject Jesus is to be hardened.

Paul explains that Pharoah was raised up through the hardening of his heart so that God’s name would be proclaimed around the world. The system of the mark of the beast is also raised up against God through the hardening of hearts. In both situations they are very powerful forces. The power within the society of those who live by the mark of the beast are being talked about around the world. They themselves boast about their ability “to be.” At the same time, there is increased awareness in the fulfilment of prophecy from the Books of Revelation, Daniel, Ezekiel, Zechariah, and Matthew 24.

Those living for the mark of beast depend on it to make their desires and efforts for global peace and harmony come true. Their desires are not enough to bring them utopia, Salvation, nor to make the sun’s intense heat go away. Their human desire for a gentler and kinder world hardens them to God’s plan of Salvation. Being a part of God’s family who inherits the New Jerusalem comes through faith in Jesus Christ, not human desire and effort.

“It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. 
For Scripture says to Pharaoh:
“I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display My power in you
and that My name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”
Therefore, God has mercy on whom He wants to have mercy, and
He hardens whom He wants to harden.”
