I feel intimidated to mention anything that comes from a sense of right and wrong, good and bad, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There are accusations that “right-wingers” are intolerant, unloving, bigoted, and non-inclusive. In the opinion of many, living by the Word of God is outright sinful and not in the interest of humanitarian goals. They are phasing out the Bibe, thinking that where there is no Bible there is no sin.
The opinions of the majority come from those who live by the internal presence of the mark of the beast. They despise the Gospel of Jesus Christ because it reveals their way of life as being in the crosshairs of God’s judgment. That doesn’t make the Word of God sinful because it offends many people, it just enables me to see the atrocities committed within their society. They want to do away with religion to make their atrocities disappear, but as long as the message of the Cross is here, their Godless behavior will be visible. Only through the Gospel of Jesus are we made right in God’s eyes. Ignoring sin is leading to tribulation, so saying that there is no sin doesn’t make problems go away. Through the Word of God, sin becomes utterly sinful.
Paul was a Roman Citizen and a Pharisee, his father a Roman Citizen and his mother a Jew. As such, he mastered the letter of the law of the Old Testament as well as living by the Roman law. Paul found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life actually brought death. He felt righteous when killing and putting Christians in prison. It was the right thing to do under the law and it was right as a Roman citizen.
The astute knowledge Paul had of the law caused him to sin against God. Then he saw the true light and turned his life over to Jesus Christ and became dead to the law. At the same time, he never abandoned the Old Testament but used it to show how God expects everyone to be right with God through faith in Jesus Christ. Thus, his message is born that righteousness comes through faith in Jesus Christ, not by the law. Being dead to the law is to be dead to sin and that death brings life through Jesus Christ.
“What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.” But sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, produced in me every kind of coveting. For apart from the law, sin was dead.
Once I was alive apart from the law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life, and I died. I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life actually brought death. For sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, deceived me, and through the commandment put me to death. So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good. Did that which is good, then, become death to me? By no means! Nevertheless, in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it used what is good to bring about my death, so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful.”
Romans 7:7-13
