Hunting for the Fun of It?

“There’s one!” is something I hear routinely and most of the time it is not in the context of an Easter egg hunt, nor is it in the context of the Spirit of Jesus Christ. But I have been to a few community and church organized Easter egg hunts and the phrase, “There’s one!” is spoken to the children constantly. Yes, children are coached by adults to “get one”, and it’s allowed.

I woke up this morning thinking about fireworks and Easter egg hunts. The Easter egg hunts are what I’m mostly thinking about. Where I live, the hunts are conducted by the city at the local park and by the churches. Both events are advertised through the local newspaper and social media to invite the public to attend. Neither has anything to do with “Easter Sunday,” or as it used to be called “Resurrection Sunday.” Belief in the resurrection of Jesus Christ is an essential part to Salvation. Instead, kids come together with their parents to find as many Easter eggs as they can.

I know, as well as everyone else, that “playtime” is definitely nothing how it used to be. The fun has gone out in exchange for a more “orderly,” “disciplined,” and “organized” approach. So, since the Spirit of Christ and human sentimentality is being substituted for a more mechanized and orderly approach, what is it that they are learning to hunt? I know they are looking for “one” because I hear, “There’s one!” I envision human robots hunting the Spirit of Christ, human feelings, and Christians to afflict them. Afterall, these are the days of the mark of the beast. Today’s trend of “phasing out” the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and those with a testimony for Jesus, will grow in intensity. Tomorrow’s fierce persecution starts with the children learning to abide by the internal government of the mark of the beast. They are already very familiar with the phrase, “There’s one!”

“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.” James 1:12
