Revelation chapter 21 and chapter 22.

The Water of Life flows from the temple of God.
“Then he brought me back to the door of the temple; and there was water, flowing from under the threshold of the temple toward the east, for the front of the temple faced east; the water was flowing from under the right side of the temple, south of the altar. He brought me out by way of the north gate, and led me around on the outside to the outer gateway that faces east; and there was water, running out on the right side.” Ezekiel 47:1-2

The temple of God was located within four walls that had gates to the north, south, and east. The door of the temple faced the east gate. The altar was situated outside and in front of the door of the temple, but plenty far enough away to burn sacrifices. Like a barbecue grill being outside the front door of a home and kept far enough away to light the fire.

The water was flowing towards the east, from under the threshold of the temple, and the door of the temple faced the east. In other words, the water was flowing from under the front entryway of the temple towards the east. The water continued to flow east, brushing the south side of the altar, since the altar would have obstructed the straight flow towards the east gate. Then God brought Ezekiel outside through the north gate, led him around the outer wall, and brought him to the east gate. The water was flowing there too, on the outer side of the east gate. In other words, the water was flowing from under the front door of the temple [eastward], continued to flow on the right side of the altar [south side], and continued to flow east past the east gate on the outer side of the wall.

The picture below shows the water flowing east [in blue] from the threshold of the temple to the right of the altar [south side], flowing past the east gate to outside the wall.

Jesus Christ is the Water of life that flows from the temple of God, from the throne of God. The Water of Life came from God and passed beside the altar, the altar being the Cross where our Lord Jesus gave His life as a sacrifice to atone for our sin. From there, the Water of Life continued to flow past the east gate into our soul from which we drink from the Water. “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive…” John 7:37-39 “Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:14

The flowing waters are also the river of the water of life flowing in the eternal New Jerusalem, “Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb” Revelation 22:1

The Water of Life swelled to global proportions.
“And when the man went out to the east with the line in his hand, he measured one thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the water came up to my ankles.: Ezekiel 47:3

In a sense, measuring the distance of “one thousand cubits” refers to the distance of time from when Jesus Christ atoned for sin on the Cross, was buried in the grave, was resurrected, and then ascended into Heaven. This first span of time saw the Water of Life deepening to ankle high. This would be the time of the ministry of the Apostles including the period when the four Gospels were written along with all of the books of the New Testament. Churches were established, people were coming to God through Jesus Christ, and the followers of Jesus Christ were just beginning to multiply.

“Again he measured one thousand and brought me through the waters; the water came up to my knees. Again he measured one thousand and brought me through; the water came up to my waist.” Ezekiel 47:4

As time progressed past the ministry of the Apostles, the Water of Life continued to flow and to deepen past ankle high to being knee high and even up to the waist. The number of the followers of Jesus Christ continued to grow and grow. As we know, the testimony of Jesus Christ spread all through the European territories, churches began to sprout up everywhere on the eastern side of the world. In fact, Christopher Columbus sailed from the eastern world to the western and brought the Gospel of Jesus Christ to America.

Those coming to Jesus Christ grew in number spreading to the Far East, the European nations, and landing in America and throughout the western hemisphere.

“Again he measured one thousand, and it was a river that I could not cross; for the water was too deep, water in which one must swim, a river that could not be crossed.” Ezekiel 47:5

The flow of the Water of Life deepened beyond being waist high to being so deep that a person would need to swim because touching the bottom was out of the question. The river was so wide that it could not be crossed. This is describing the global reach of the Gospel of Jesus Christ that is so wide it spans from one side of the world to the next. The followers of Jesus Christ became very, very deep and very, very wide in cities and nations across the globe.

“He said to me, “Son of man, have you seen this?” Then he brought me and returned me to the bank of the river. Ezekiel saw the vision of the ocean of believers.

The trees with the leaves of healing.
“When I returned, there, along the bank of the river, were very many trees on one side and the other. ” “Along the bank of the river, on this side and that, will grow all kinds of trees used for food; their leaves will not wither, and their fruit will not fail. They will bear fruit every month, because their water flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for medicine.” Ezekiel 47:6-7, 12

Every person who has believed God and remained faithful to Him in the Old Testament will eat from the eternal fruit of the Tree of Life and be healed by the leaves. Every person who has ever believed God and lived for Jesus Christ will eat from the eternal fruit of the Tree of Life and be healed by the leaves. Every follower of Jesus Christ today and in the future will eat from the eternal fruit of the tree of Life and be healed by the leaves. The Water of Life flowing in us is Jesus Christ who comes to us from the Sanctuary of God, and those same waters nourishes the Tree of Life.

The Water of Life is the Holy Spirit within us, and the Holy Spirit is our guarantee of inheriting eternal life in the New Jerusalem where we eat from the Tree of Life, “In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance…” Ephesians 1:13-14

The Tree of Life with healing leaves and the Water of Life are prepared for us in the New Jerusalem, “And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street on each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him.” Revelation 22:2-3

The flow of water brings healing.
“Then he said to me: “This water flows toward the eastern region, goes down into the valley, and enters the sea. When it reaches the sea, its waters are healed.” Ezekiel 47:8

The water flows towards the eastern region, which is the area of the door to the temple of God. Our spirit and soul is the door that leads into the presence of God. A valley is where waters are gathered and start to flow like a river. God created our spirit and soul to gather the Water of Life and to flow with the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ. The sea is the gathering of a population of people, and as followers of Jesus Christ, we come together as one body in His name. In the body of Christ, we are healed.

The Waters of Life flow towards the eternal New Jerusalem in the new heaven and earth. God is filling up the valley with everyone who comes to Him through Jesus Christ. The flow within the valley of Believers will enter into the sea of the multitude of believers within the Kingdom of God. There, we are eternally healed, given a new eternal body, and we eat from the eternal fruit of the Tree of Life with leaves that are for our healing.

“And it shall be that every living thing that moves, wherever the rivers go, will live. There will be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters go there; for they will be healed, and everything will live wherever the river goes.” Ezekiel 47:9

Wherever the Water of Life goes, every living thing that moves will live. Wherever Jesus Christ is, there is life because He is the Resurrection and the Life. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 There will be a very great multitude of “fish”, and those multitudes are those who receive Jesus Christ who is the Water of Life. Through Jesus Christ we are healed, “…who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.” 1 Peter2:24

Fishers of men will be hauling in exceedingly many souls for Christ.
“It shall be that fishermen will stand by it from En Gedi to En Eglaim; they will be places for spreading their nets. Their fish will be of the same kinds as the fish of the Great Sea, exceedingly many.” Ezekiel 47:10

The great sea where the Waters of Life flow is representative of the great masses of people to whom the Gospel of Christ has been made known. They are the “fishes”, and the fishermen are we who want to bring people into fellowship with God through Jesus Christ. Jesus says, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” Mark 1:17 The population of people is where many nets have been spread since the time Jesus Christ has walked on this earth, and the haul of believers have been many, as Jesus said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.” John 2:6 That large number of fish are those of the Great Sea, which is the body of Believers.

From the time of the death, resurrection, and ascension of our Lord Jesus, to around 1945, there were many people brought to Christ. Immediately after WW2 in 1945, the United Nations was established, which ushered in the government of the beast, which is described in Daniel 8. At that time, the Gospel of Christ began to disappear, which is known as the “Great Falling Away”. Today, the churches have abandoned the Gospel of Jesus Christ, government lawmakers do not apply the values of the Bible to their laws and policies, the educational system does not allow the Bible to be taught in classrooms, and Christianity is not welcomed in society. As Jesus Christ says, “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” John 9:4-5

Those without Christ are like salty marshes and swamps.
“But its swamps and marshes will not be healed; they will be given over to salt.” Ezekiel 47:11

Swamps and marshes are places of an abundance of water, but the land is useless for any productive purposes. Swamps and marshes can be considered to be where the waters of humanism flood the human being but makes the spirit and soul useless for growing the fruit of the Holy Spirit. For example, today’s culture pours on the need for human dignity, respect, love, support, tolerance, peace, etc. But they refer to the teachings of the Bible as being bigoted, intolerant, hateful, destructive to dignity, unloving, not caring, unsupportive, etc. Humanism is “…an outlook or system of thought attaching prime importance to human rather than divine or supernatural matters. Humanist beliefs stress the potential value and goodness of human beings, emphasize common human needs, and seek solely rational ways of solving human problems.”

Today’s culture is given over to the type of salt that does not allow belief in God, scoffs at the need for the forgiveness of sin through Jesus Christ, and suppresses the presence of the Holy Spirit. Today’s culture serves the entity that gives them what to think, feel, do and say as the human spirit and conscience is hardened against Jesus Christ. They will not find healing of the spirit and soul because the entity they serve enables the image of the beast to speak and live through them. The masses of today’s culture are groomed to the mark of the beast by what they say and do.

Earthly depiction of the promised land.
“Thus says the Lord God: “These are the borders by which you shall divide the land as an inheritance among the twelve tribes of Israel. Joseph shall have two portions. You shall inherit it equally with one another; for I raised My hand in an oath to give it to your fathers, and this land shall fall to you as your inheritance.” Ezekiel 47:13-14

The phrase, “Joseph shall have two portions“, refers to his inheritance being divided between his two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh. Joseph died before the journey of the Israelites into the promised land, so he did not inherit any land. Before Jacob died [ Joseph’s father] he blessed Joseph’s two sons with the inheritance that would have been Joseph’s. This is described in Genesis 48.

North Side. “This shall be the border of the land on the north: from the Great Sea, by the road to Hethlon, as one goes to Zedad, Hamath, Berothah, Sibraim (which is between the border of Damascus and the border of Hamath), to Hazar Hatticon (which is on the border of Hauran). Thus the boundary shall be from the Sea to Hazar Enan, the border of Damascus; and as for the north, northward, it is the border of Hamath. This is the north side.” Ezekiel 47:15-17

East Side. “On the east side you shall mark out the border from between Hauran and Damascus, and between Gilead and the land of Israel, along the Jordan, and along the eastern side of the sea. This is the east side.” Ezekiel 47:18

South Side. “The south side, toward the South, shall be from Tamar to the waters of Meribah by Kadesh, along the brook to the Great Sea. This is the south side, toward the South.” Ezekiel 47:19

West Side. “The west side shall be the Great Sea, from the southern boundary until one comes to a point opposite Hamath. This is the west side.” Ezekiel 47:20

The red outline in the picture below is the border mentioned in the verses above. In chapter 48 of Ezekiel, the land was divided into the tribes of Israel as seen in the white divisions. Today, the West Bank takes a big chunk out of the promised land, and the Gaza Strip takes out a little chunk.

In the picture blow, you can see the big chunk which the West Bank occupies in the territories of the promised land. The Gaza Strip is in the Southwest corner on the border of the sea.

Followers of Christ are adopted into the family of God.
“Thus you shall divide this land among yourselves according to the tribes of Israel. It shall be that you will divide it by lot as an inheritance for yourselves, and for the strangers who dwell among you and who bear children among you. They shall be to you as native-born among the children of Israel; they shall have an inheritance with you among the tribes of Israel.” Ezekiel 47:21 22

It can be said that the followers of Jesus Christ are the strangers among Israel. Through our Lord Jesus, we are adopted and made part of the house of Israel. God considers us to be His native-born children with full rights to the blessings of His promises and inheritors of the promised land. We are bearing children to God in the name of Jesus Christ.

Since the coming of Jesus Christ, there is no inheritance and blessings mentioned in the New Testament for Israel. All of the inheritance and promises of blessings for Israel in the Old Testament have been transferred to the followers of Jesus Christ, as quoted, “For they are not all Israel who are of Israel, nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but, “In Isaac your seed shall be called.” That is, those who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God; but the children of the promise are counted as the seed…And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Romans 9:6-8, Galatians 3:29

Today, we know that the State of Israel is not the promised land to be inherited. The New Jerusalem is the eternal promised land for all who believe Jesus Christ, and that promised land is in the new heaven and earth, after this current heaven and earth are destroyed. With that said, the Jewish people have the inheritance of their earthly promised land which is the State of Israel. By rejecting Jesus Christ, the Jewish people have no inheritance in the New Jerusalem.

“And it shall be that in whatever tribe the stranger dwells, there you shall give him his inheritance,” says the Lord God.” Ezekiel 47:23

“If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root,” Romans 11:17 Some of the branches that were broken off are the unbelieving Jewish nation, and all of us non-Jews who believe Jesus Christ have been grafted into the family of God. We share in the nourishing sap of the promises of God flowing from Jesus. “…do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you.” Romans 11:18 As non-Jewish members of the family of God, we must never feel superior to the Jewish people, after all, Jesus Christ is Jewish who is the Savior of the world. We have been adopted into His family, and without the Jewish existence we have no existence as the children of God.

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25
