The Holy Spirit within scripture is a lot different than the world’s interpretation of scripture. I run across sweet, cute, and flirtatious girls from time to time that are saying, “Do you want me?” They are offering up their bodies in a way that is pleasing to their god, not the God of Jesus Christ. I’ve always wondered what they meant when saying, “Do you want me?” At times, I would test that by inviting them to join me in something. Anything from a cup of coffee to whatever else, “Do you want me?” could apply to. The end response would be, “I have a boyfriend!” Somehow the conversation went from, “Do you want me?” to “I have a boyfriend!” Over time, I’ve come to learn that what they are really asking is, “Do you want the mark of the beast?” If I say yes to that and no to the Spirit of Christ, then a much friendlier interaction would occur. It’s the process of creating human robots. In that light, I’ve quit chasing the fleshly desires and have learned to present my body to God as a living sacrifice in the Spirit of Jesus Christ.
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:1-2
