It’s obvious that we live in a very divided world that spills over into our cities, churches, and homes. Some people are obviously trying to spark strife and destruction while others strive to live in peace and harmony. The scriptures have also been caught up in the division and strife. Some will use the scripture as a “call for action” to “fight the good fight”, “to bring “justice to the world”, and to topple the “kingdom of Satan”. Others see the rest, quietness, and confidence of our salvation that is imparted in the scriptures. God gives this word to us, “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it. You said, ‘No, we will flee on horses.’ Therefore, you will flee! You said, ‘We will ride off on swift horses.’ Therefore, your pursuers will be swift!” Isaiah 30:15-16
As I do my best to live peaceably in this world, I know I am going to encounter people who want to spark debate and conflict to enflame destructive results. The articles that I post are inspired by grace within difficult circumstances. I have to have lots of grace, and I will have to endure the hardness of others. Timothy encourages me, “You, therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that you have heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. You therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.”
2 Timothy 2:1-3
Thank you, Jesus, for being you, “Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will bring justice to the nations. He will not shout or cry out or raise his voice in the streets. A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out.”
Isaiah 42:1-3
Isaiah 53
