There is a difference between causing the patience of other people to grow thin and causing the patience of the Living God to grow thin. The patience found within the kingdom of this world becomes shallow when physical lusts, lusts for what a person sees, and pride encroaches on others. People hurt one another violently, and even murder, when ego erupts or they decide to unlawfully use someone for fulfilling their pleasures, or they steal whatever is pleasant to their eyes. Betrayals of all types, including adultery, will definitely ruffle some feathers! Patience runs thin when stealing is a routine occurrence, when someone habitually lies, and when someone ALWAYS wants what you have! Amidst it all, I can say, “Because He has inclined His ear to me, therefore will I call upon Him as long as I live.”
Wearing down the patience of the Living God transpires in other ways! It wearies the Living God when a person does not love God with all their heart, soul, and mind. They make Him second place to many other different things, especially to the modern god of knowledge and technology! It wearies the Living God when people use His name with empty words, empty meaning, and with spiritual emptiness. It wearies the Living God when we crowd Him out by trying to do everything by our own efforts and not resting in what His Son Jesus Christ did for us on the Cross. God’s mercy endures forever, and because He has inclined His ear to me, therefore will I call upon Him as long as I live.
There is one sure way to restore patience, self-control, and perseverance…give someone a sure sign of your love, kindness, and goodwill towards them! The Living God gave us such a sign! Isaiah prophesied of that sign and an Angel reiterated the same proclamation at the appearing of that sign. As it is written; Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign; Behold, a Virgin will conceive, and bear a Son, and will call His name Immanuel. That is quite a sign! Christ Jesus coming to us was a miracle Birth by the creation of the Holy Ghost, as well as making it possible for God to be with us! Now, mankind would be able to come apart from the weariness within the kingdom of this world to mount up with wings as eagles by resting in what Christ did for us on the Cross. We are Citizens of the Kingdom of God! As we accept Christ Jesus into our heart and mind we are at peace with God and we no longer weary Him. Because He has inclined His ear to me, therefore will I call upon Him as long as I live.
Many of the prophecies throughout the Bible enable us to develop an image of the Deity of the Lord Christ Jesus. It is said of Jesus Christ that “Butter and honey will he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.” Eating butter and honey is like being clothed with the peaceable, meek, and gentle Spirit of God. (It could also denote poverty, which Christ Jesus did live in poverty) John the Baptist came eating honey and wild locusts, a voice crying in the wilderness, but it is Jesus Christ who baptizes whoever believes in Him with the Holy Ghost. As a young boy, Jesus Christ knew to refuse the evil and choose the good.
When the Deity of Christ abides in us, our sin is made dormant and becomes inactive because through the Spirit of Christ we refuse the evil and choose the good. As our sin is made to do nothing through our words and behaviors, the Holy Ghost is able to do more and more through our words and deeds. In the day when the Christ Child was born of the Virgin Mary, the world was weary with the chaos of humanity, and the Living God was weary with the kingdom of this world. In essence, the world that was abhorred by many had no king to rule over them righteously. Jesus Christ became the King of kings and Lord of lords by what He did for us on the Cross.
“And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also? Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good. For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhor shall be forsaken of both her kings.” Isaiah 7:13-16
“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21
“Because He hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.”
