We have a lot to look forward to in the future! Of course, that future is not according to the ways of this world where war, conflict, struggle, and suffering are consequences of the battle against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, and against spiritual wickedness in high places. Christ defeated Satan, all powers of darkness, wickedness, and all evil on the Cross. The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust will be the serpent’s meat. We have a future in the Kingdom of God, the New Jerusalem, which is higher than the hills; a place where all the saved nations will walk in the light of it; many people and nations will bring their honor into it as they seek to be taught and to walk in the paths of God; the nations will beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks. That great city, the Holy Jerusalem, will descend out of Heaven from God, and the nations of them which are saved will walk in the light of it. Hallelujah! The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock (In the Garden of Eden, all animals were vegetarians): and dust shall be the serpent’s meat.
Entry into the New Jerusalem is possible to those who accept what Jesus Christ has done for us on the Cross. No sin will exist in that New Jerusalem, but we are born in sin and will never be perfect. How then is it possible to be a Citizen of the New Jerusalem which comes down to us out of Heaven? Christ is the only perfect individual that has ever existed, so He would be the only One in the New Jerusalem with His Father and the Holy Ghost! Except, His sacrifice on the Cross was to put our sin into remission as He occupies our soul and spirit. We can say that it is no longer I that lives but it is Christ who lives in us! Because it is Christ who lives in us, we are considered worthy to enter that Heavenly City, the New Jerusalem. In the eyes of God, we are justified and allowed to enter the Holy City because we have faith in what Jesus Christ did for us on the Cross. We are given admission into a place where the wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat; and the nations will beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks. At the gate of the New Jerusalem we believe in our heart and confess with our mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord!
We are set apart from the kingdom of this world in preparation for the Kingdom of God. That sanctification comes within our soul, spirit, mind, and body because we accept what Christ did for us at the Cross. By the power of God, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost, the wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust will be the serpent’s meat; and the nations will beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks. That is the future we have to look forward to in Christ Jesus!
“The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.”
“And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,” “And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honor into it. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. And they shall bring the glory and honor of the nations into it.”
“For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind” But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.” “And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.” “The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, says the LORD.”

No one is perfect, which is to say that we are all flawed by sin. God honors that humble attitude. We all know someone whose life has been changed because of what Christ did on the Cross to remit sin. I am one. God honors that belief. Confessing that we are flawed with sin, and believing in the work of Jesus Christ on the Cross will reconcile us to God. That simple! Believe in the heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord.
