“Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning.”

Imagine the Holy Ghost infilling the life in this world with a very, very small portion. It’s easy to do nowadays as we hear about all the vices, sexual immorality, and teachings of Churches that have nothing to do with the Message of the Cross. The population has so rejected the Holy Ghost in their life that destructive lifestyles prevail, and going to Church is nothing more than a social gathering of fun, food, singing and music. As someone once said, the world is going to Hell in a hand basket! In these days of hostility towards the Cross of Christ, the encouragement is to let your loins be girded about and your lights burning. The nation of Israel had fallen into the same pattern as Sodom and Gomorrah, all except a small population of the Israelites. It was from that small population that the nation would continue to survive and be the womb from which Christ would be born! We who embrace what Christ has done for us on the Cross are that small population of those who do not live according to this world, but our Home is with God in the Kingdom of God. Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning.

Israel was making all the right sacrifices according to the Law of Moses, but it wasn’t serving them any purpose at all! They continued to indulge in sexual immorality and vices of all types. Israel was putting on a good outward appearance, but inwardly they did not love God with their heart, soul, and mind. They loved the vices and immorality of the world. We cannot live for the love of the world and the love of the Kingdom of God. We must love the Living God with all of our heart, soul, and mind. We must allow the Holy Ghost to be a dominant presence in our life, to Let our loins be girded about, and our lights burning. If the Church is not teaching and preaching the message of the Cross, then they are merely putting on an outward show of righteousness while living for the materialism, enticements, and money of this world. Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning.

By the Holy Ghost being a dominant presence in our life, we are the population that will fill up the New Jerusalem in God’s Kingdom. God has made it easy for us to understand the presence of the Holy Ghost in our life; which is to keep ourselves away from immorality, vices, and enticements of this world. And to not follow false doctrines but to always keep the Cross of Christ as our first love. The Holy Ghost is only a part of our life because of what Christ has done for us on the Cross. Christ puts sin into remission which allows the Holy Ghost to replace that sin. There are no religions, social gatherings, fun, fellowship dinners, etc. that can cause the Holy Ghost to dwell in our soul, spirit, and mind. When we let our loins be girded about, and our lights burning then we will experience the resurrection Life, filled with the Holy Ghost, our names written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, and a Home prepared for us within the Kingdom of God.

No one is perfect, which is to say that we are all flawed by sin. God honors that humble attitude. We all know someone whose life has been changed because of what Christ did on the Cross to remit sin. I am one. God honors that belief. Confessing that we are flawed with sin, and believing in the work of Jesus Christ on the Cross will reconcile us to God. That simple! Believe in the heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord.

Scriptural Text
“Except the Lord of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah. Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah. To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to me? says the Lord: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.”                                   Isaiah 1:9-11

“Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning” Luke 12:35
