“And Such Were Some Of You”

The minister of the Church was looking around in the congregation and saw people with sexual addictions, people worshipping astrology signs, people wife swamping for sexual pleasure, transsexuals, homosexuals, lesbians, those abusing themselves in the ways of the world, thieves, those habitually craving the things of others, alcoholics, narcissists, and extortioners. And such were some of you! How would this minister of the Gospel ever persuade these people to change and to live a life for God?! Actually, those mentioned above were those who were born again by Spirit within their heart! They were healed by the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Ironically, their problem was judging one another! We know that because the preacher said, “And such were some of you.” Who was that preacher? It was the Apostle Paul, who at one period in his life actually found the name of Christ Jesus so detestable that he murdered and imprisoned those who believed in their heart and confessed with their mouth that Jesus is Lord. In fact, many of those within his congregation could of been stoned to death, instead they found grace under Paul’s ministry, and through God’s grace they found Life because of what Christ did for them on the Cross.

We live in a chaotic and turbulent world because of one very simple reason, we judge others with an evil, worldly, and reckless judgment. Where is the grace, tolerance and “we are all good at heart” attitude? Everybody wants to stone somebody else because they have violated somebody’s self sense of righteousness. One thing they have no thought of is the Grace of God that changes hearts and minds and lifestyles! There are very bad and wicked people in this world who are that way only because they are held captive to their worldly lifestyle within the flesh. And such were some of you! Satan wants to deceive them into not changing! Christ has defeated Satan at the Cross so that we can change. We can be like the Apostle Paul before his encounter with Christ, who passed horrid judgment against sinners; or we can be like the Apostle Paul after Christ who brought the sinners to the Cross to build the Church! Because of what Christ did for us on the Cross, sin is made dormant, washed away, and made inactive to cause it to do nothing through our body. We are set apart from the world; the Holy Ghost works in us and for us to cleanse us and we are born again in the Spirit of God.

God’s plan is to reconcile all mankind to Himself, everybody, everyone, the whosoever! He sent His Son Jesus Christ to give His life on the Cross to make that possible. Anyone who accepts Jesus Christ, ANYONE, will have a change of heart. And such were some of you! People have been born again in heart and mind after living with sexual addictions, worshipping things other than the Living God, wife-swamping for sexual pleasure, proclaiming themselves as transsexuals, being homosexuals, being lesbians, those abusing themselves in the ways of the world, being thieves, those habitually craving the things of others, being alcoholics, being narcissists, and being extortioners. What a congregation to have in a Church! And such were some of you! BUT, what Christ did for you at the Cross will put those worldly cravings into remission, to make them dormant, inactive, of no effect, and leaving them to do nothing through you! 

Now is the time when the world needs your testimony. People who believe in their heart and confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord! It is so easy. We agree that no one is perfect, we are all sinners. Now there is one more thing to do to be right with God; we all know someone whose life has been changed by what Christ did for us at the Cross. I am one you know! Believe that is possible. Now you are right with God. Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord!

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”
                                               1 Corinthians 6:9-11
