The lion snatched a lamb out of the flock, but the shepherd of the flock grabbed the lion by the beard and killed it, (probably after flinging a stone at it) saving the lamb. A bear also came and tried the same thing, and the shepherd killed the bear also to save the lamb. This was encouraging news during a time when the people were becoming disheartened by the challenge and threat of an overpowering opponent. The shepherd promised to do the same to the overpowering giant soldier that he did to the lion and the bear. His words were, “Let no Man’s Heart Fail because of him.” This same shepherd promised to fight that overpowering giant, an experienced warrior from his youth, and physically a giant among people. The sin nature, Satan himself, is like a lion or a bear that tries to clutch us in it’s deadly grip and snatch us away from God’s flock. It’s gigantic and overpowering nature is impossible to defeat by natural standards, but there is a mighty Savior who defeats the lion and saves us alive, a savior who defeats the bear and saves us alive, a savior who defeats Satan to save us alive, a savior that defeats overpowering obstacles by the power of His Spirit. Let no person’s heart fail! David had the Spirit of God working on his behalf when he killed the lion, the bear, and the giant Philistine called Goliath. In all Glory and Power, God’s Spirit says to all people, let no person’s heart fail because of Satan.
Even today, Satan seeks to snatch the lambs away from God in a violent manner, in the same manner as a lion or bear would mercilessly kill a lamb. If we think of lambs as being children, we know how merciless the children are being snatched away from this world. Satan steals, kills, and destroys the lambs of this world in violent and merciless ways. We are inching nearer and nearer to the Great Tribulation, but the Rapture of God’s people is soon! Let no person’s heart fail! We will rise again and experience the Second Coming of Christ. Satan’s troops of bears and lions are mercilessly working on snatching the Children born of the Cross away from the flock of God. In one way or another, those who live by the way of the Cross know all too well of the overpowering giants that attempt to dominate and control their life. Whether it be managers, parents, government officials, representatives of the law, spouses, children, rioters, murderers, intimidators, or bullies…somebody wants to oppress your life in Christ and snatch you away from the flock of God. Even so, let no person’s heart fail because victory is ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts. Zechariah 4:6
The lion and bear represents the ferocious nature of sin in this world that attempts to snatch away the Spirit of God. We cannot win against the overpowering forces of the wickedness in dark places with our worldly experience, age, body guards, security systems, size, gun licenses, etc. Fighting spiritual wickedness with worldly might is like trying to kill the wind with a bullet, impossible. Howbeit, let no person’s heart fail because God already knows the battle is not won by might nor power, but by His Spirit! We have His Spirit in us because of what His Son Jesus Christ did for us on the Cross. What He did was to defeat Satan and to put the sin nature of the lion and bear into remission. Because Christ lives in us, not one of His precious Lambs will ever be snatched away from His flock. His flock will meet in the New Jerusalem, not New Jersey! Satan will try to devour God’s Lambs, because all he does is to steal, kill, and destroy all things of God. Even so, the Holy Ghost lives in us to give us victory over the overpowering giants that assail us everyday. Abide in Christ everyday and we will defeat the giant! The Rapture is going to snatch away God’s Children out of the clutches of Satan’s claws, and it will be soon! We separate ourselves from the world; not by security systems, hidden bunkers, closets, under beds, or concealed carry permits, etc. but we separate ourselves by the Holy Spirit. The victory is not won by the things of this world, but by the Spirit of God. Let not the people’s heart fail!
“And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine. And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth. And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him. Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.” 1 Samuel 17:32-36
