I went to Kroger’s to pick up some Carnation breakfast drinks where I and the clerks always make a little cordial chit chat. We reached one area of conversation where she was talking about the new Starbucks that will be opening inside the store very soon. She made coffee sound like the center of all good things of life. That is where I figured this would be a good opportunity to bring a word about the shed blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In my “flirtatious” way, I said, “Coffee does all that for you?” I went on to say that the first thing I do in the morning is open the Bible to read the Message of the Cross, that is my coffee. As soon as I said that, several customers all started to talk at once and too loud for me and the clerk to carry on any further conversation. Satan is attacking the testimony of the Cross of Christ like never before!
This is what God has done for us by giving His only Son to die on the Cross; He puts sin into remission, like cancer being put into remission to cure a patient. All we have to do is read a day of news to see all the violence, corruption, sexual perversion, rage, conflict, and addictions to know what unremitted sin is like. People who try to drown out the Message of the Cross are possessed by an evil spirit attempting to get people involved in all the nonsense.
We who are in Christ come apart from the way of the world to live a life of Holiness.
Through the work at Calvary, we are restored to fellowship with the Spirit of God. That means we have a fervent love in us for the redemption of those living in the perverted pollution of the world. Those who try to drown out the Message of the Cross have a vengeance against the love of God, it is of Satan. They are demonic in their lust to destroy the Message of the Cross of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
What Christ did on the Cross is to supply us with the resurrection power. We no longer have to be stuck in the rut of worldly degradation, but we can experience the resurrection of life. No longer are we dead in our sin to serve an evil world, but we are dead to sin and alive in Christ. Those who try to drown out the Message of the Cross are trying to keep Jesus Christ in His tomb, but too late, He is alive and living in me!
Through the blood shed at the Cross we have the Holy Spirit to work in us to purge our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors from the way of the world. Those who try to drown out the Message of the Cross are attacking the work of the Holy Spirit! It is an evil spirit attacking the Children of God.
