Most of what we know about what is happening in our town or world depends on what we watch on TV, read in newspapers, or hear on radio. Unless we learn by experience, school work, or other natural processes. Either way, we have to try to make sense of the knowledge that is reported to us compared to what we learn through our own learning experiences. We definitely know the shambles our neighborhoods are in. Unless we are learning something differently in school, but with all the school shootings and student protests, I would say that their knowledge and the awareness of the world is the same. Even with the knowledge and wisdom of the world, the solution to violence in society is “concealed carry” and “stand your ground” laws. I really wonder how many neighborhoods, parents, students, and concerned citizens really believe that the world is adhering to a correct form of knowledge and wisdom. It is definitely not the wisdom and knowledge of God that is guiding the trends of society. Really, how many people are comfortable with identifying themselves with words and behaviors of a child of God?
We have become so smart and wise that somehow we don’t need God anymore. The turbulence in the world is not seen as being from a sinful nature, but something that intellect, philosophy, and wise words can manage. Satan is making a mess of the world in the meantime. The message of the cross is not within the knowledge and wisdom of our generation today. Those who do talk about Christ as the solution to the ills of the world are considered fools, uninformed, and not “in.” Even so, that foolishness is what cleanses the hatred, conflict, pessimism, and uncontrolled behavior from the heart of believers. That is a very refreshing and miraculous sign of what the crucified Lamb of God will do within our heart. Those who can’t get past their own intellectual pride will always face the Cross as their stumbling block. Humanity is not harmonized by philosophy, worldly wisdom, and by excluding the Message of The Cross. The world is harmonized by crucifying the sinful nature of the flesh, which Christ defeated that sinful nature on the Cross. Those who believe and welcome the indwelling of Christ will discover the foolishness of the cross to be far wiser than worldly thoughts.
“For after that in the Wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God. it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them who believe. For the Jews require a sign and the Greeks seek after wisdom. But we preach Christ crucified, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the Wisdom of God.”
