Messy is being untidy or dirty; or a case that is confusing and difficult to deal with. Probably from my Mom’s point of view I was a little difficult and confusing to her about how untidy I may have kept my room, or how dirty my clothes were from playing football in the mud. Even then, she made real good sense of how to motivate me to clean my room and how to wash the clothes. Spiritually, it should be simple to know a clean spirit from a messy spirit.
A mess has been made of spiritual living that has made the things of the spirit difficult and confusing. There are many different sources that guide us in the cleansing of the spirit to bring internal rewards. There is Jesus, Deepak Chopra, The Dalai Lama, Paulo Coelho, Thich Nhat Hanh, Eckhart Tolle, James Redfield, don Miguel Ruiz, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, and Rhonda Byrne. All of these spiritual leaders has the goal of reducing the inward battle to bring peace and spiritual light. Quarrelling and fighting are not qualities of a spiritual life.
James 4:1 of the KJV Bible states, “What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you?” Let’s change our messy spiritual clothes and clean our dirty spiritual room. Let’s find peace within ourselves to live with tolerance towards one another. A clean room definitely brings joy and happiness to a home (the world being our home).
